Concussion is an issue that affects all sports and it is important that everyone in Rugby (players, coaches, administrators, medics, and supporters) work together to ensure the welfare of those who take the field at all levels of the game is protected.

This year, we will be requiring all players from U13 up to the senior level to complete basic baseline concussion testing prior to competing in a game.
U13/U15 Testing will be completed on Monday, May 2 and Wednesday May 4.
Senior Men & Senior women will be tested on Tuesday, May 3 and Thursday, May 5.
A date for U17/U18 testing will be set closer to their season.

All testing will be performed at Inland Athletic Park from 5:45pm and run through practice times. This means we ask those of you who can be there to arrive early to complete your testing so we can get everyone done in that week. The results of these tests will be kept on hand by trainers or coaches at games and will be used as a baseline to evaluate suspected concussions.

All Saracen coaches are required to complete World Rugby's online RugbyReady and Concussion Management for the General Public. We adhere by Rugby Canada's PlaySmart campaign: When in doubt, take the player out!

Trainers for all junior games are provided by the Alberta Junior Rugby Association. Senior teams have athletic therapists from Sidelined Injury Prevention & Rehabilitation. Sidelined staff will have uncontested discretion to remove any Calgary Saracens athlete from participation for suspected head injury at any time.

Player welfare is our number one concern. We thank all coaches, managers, parents and players for your cooperation. Should you have any questions, please contact the director of your program:

Thank you!
